2024 Halloweekends Creators Day
Once again the summer season has come and gone and it is time for Halloweekends at Cedar Point! As with the previous two years, Cedar Point graciously invited us to check out Halloweekends Creator’s Day. As always, I’d like to give the park a huge thank you for the invite!
Even though there is not any new haunted houses or scare zones this year, Halloweekends still has plenty of new and exciting things to offer for everyone!
Among the highlights of Halloweekends Creator’s Day each year is getting to try many of the specialty food offerings for the season. During the event we had the opportunity to try buffalo cauliflower bites, famous Cedar Point fresh cut fries with a spicy kick dubbed “Hellfire Fries’, glazed “gargoyle” wings, butternut squash flatbread pizza, fried cheesecake, apple cider donut bundt cake, and a berry parfait. As always, all the food was phenomenal but I want to highlight three of our favorites.
First and foremost are the “Hellfire Fries” located at Happy Friar across from Gemini. These fries are the famous Cedar Point fresh cut fries tossed in Flamin’ Hot Cheeto oil, and then finished with Hot Cheeto dust and jalapenos. While they sound incredibly spicy, these fries give a great balance of flavor and spice instead of just overwhelming you with spice.
Next are the buffalo cauliflower bites located at Frontier Inn. These are pieces of cauliflower breaded and fried and tossed with buffalo sauce. Very simple, but VERY tasty. These were the surprise hit of the night.
Finally we have apple cider donut bundt cake. These are located at Coasters Drive In. Apple spiced bundt cake finished with cinnamon sugar and whipped cream. These bite sized bundt cakes were incredibly tasty and provided a nice sweet departure from the spicy main courses.
Moving on from the food, there are three new shows this year. First up is the Opening Scarymonies taking place Fridays and Saturdays on the main stage. We love that there is a different version of this show each year with a different story headlined by Mr. Midnight himself. This year’s “scarymonies” might be the best, and most high flying yet!
Also new this year is “Midnight’s Curse”, also taking place on the main stage. Midnight’s Curse takes place on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00, 9:00, 10:00, and 11:00 o'clock, and also on Sundays at 4:00, 5:00, 6:00, and 7:00 o’clock! Mr. Midnight leads his band of creepy friends in a show of incredible acrobatic feats.
Third is not really a new show, but a returning one after a few years off. What show is that you ask? None other than Skeleton Crew! These crazy skeletons have a new home on a stage in front of Giant Wheel. Shows take place on Fridays and Saturdays at 6:30, 8:00, 9:30, and 11:00 o’clock and Sundays at 2:30, 4:00, 5:30, and 7:00 o’clock.
Of course there is plenty of returning fun for the kiddos. Trick or treating, a hay maze, a corn maze, pumpkin painting, The Magical House on Boo Hill, and so much more. Adults will find some nostalgic fun on the trick or treat path as each station is themed to retired Cedar Point haunted attractions like Zombie High School, Toxic Tunnel of Terror, and Happy Jack’s Toy Factory! Make sure you listen when you ring the doorbell too! Each stop has a fun surprise with its doorbell.
Finally, we were able to try out the all new interactive Halloweekends Lanterns. Let me just say that these lanterns absolutely blew away my expectations! They were super fun and worked really well. The lantern has two modes. The first is the interactive mode. When your lantern is in interactive mode, it can interact with shows, haunted houses, scare zones, and reveal special surprises. If you want to have some of those surprises spoiled, keep reading. If not, go ahead and skip to the next paragraph. There are about 15 hidden surprises around the park. Some of our favorites are the caramel corn stand near sky ride which makes popping popcorn noises and releases fog that smells like caramel corn! Another favorite is Dave the robot who used to be in the Disaster Transport queue line. Dave is located near the Gatekeeper Freestyle location. Interact with Dave and he will play some nostalgic Cedar Point commercials with a twist! One more favorite of ours is the pirate ship at the entrance of Cut Throat Cove. Your lantern will make the cannons “fire”!
The other mode on the lanterns is tag mode. Tag mode turns your lantern green and when you see other guests in the park with their lanterns on tag mode you can go near them and press the button on your lantern to turn theirs red and thus “tagging” them. (Don’t worry, you can just turn your lantern on and off to reset it.) This tag mode proved to be a ton of fun goofing around with other park guests. Overall we highly recommend taking a day to buy a lantern and play around with it as it is a ton of fun for both kids and adults! Lanterns can be found in most gift shops and cost $39.99. They are limited in quantity so don’t delay!
Halloweekends is always such a fun time of year and this year is shaping up to be no different! Halloweekends runs Thursday-Sunday through October 27th plus Friday and Saturday November 1st and 2nd! Unfortunately the end of Halloweekends means the end of the 2024 Cedar Point season, but thankfully we have plenty of excitement to look forward to in 2025 with the all new tilt coaster, Siren’s Curse!
I want to thank Tony and the entire Cedar Point marketing team for having us out for Creator’s Day!
Thanks for reading and check out a lot more photos from the event below!
