9 Things We Are Excited About for the Upcoming Cedar Point Season

Posted in Blog.

9. Full Service Starbucks

Ok, Donut Time was great and delicious, but let’s face it, Starbucks is as good as it gets. Make sure to start off your morning sipping on your favorite drink and watching Gatekeeper fly by. Cedar Point deserves the world’s best coffee and it is finally receiving it for the 2014 season.

8. Staying in the New Cabins at Lighthouse Point

For those of us who live to far away for just a day trip, Lighthouse Point is being renovated and adding new cabins. These cabins, however, aren’t your normal resort style cabins. These 2 floored cabins can sleep up to ten people comfortably and include five flat screens so you can catch up on your shows after a long day in the park. Cedar Point is accepting reservations now. Hurry before they are booked!

7. Chickie's & Pete's

Replacing Game Day Grille this season is Chickie’s and Pete’s. Ever eaten at one of their locations before? No? Me either, but take a look at their “Crab Fries” and you’ll be convinced this place is going to be fantastic. Still don’t believe me? ESPN ranked Chickie’s and Pete’s the number one sports bar in North America. Yeah, now I have your attention. ESPN has never been wrong, right? (Don’t answer that)

6. Tony Clark’s Second Year of “Tweet-ups”

2014 Commemorative Coin

Tony introduced tweet-ups last season and it was a huge hit. Don’t know what I’m talking about? Follow @TonyClarkCP on Twitter and on days that you visit the park make sure to keep your eye on your feed. He’ll tweet his location at a random time and the first few guests to find him win front-of-the-line passes and a special commemorative coin. Only 500 coins are given out over the whole season. This year’s coin features Blue Streak.

5. Free Dinosaurs Alive! For Platinum Pass Holders

Unless you have kids, Dinosaurs Alive! may not be at the top of your list of things to do at Cedar Point. THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE FREE. Take advantage of it. It’s a nice break from the thrills and offers cool vantage points of Millennium Force. It also provides shade for those face melting degree days. If you are legitimately into robotic dinosaurs that’s cool too!

4. New and Updated Shows

Luminosity has been great since it was introduced a few years ago, but Cedar Point is making it better this year with new songs, storylines, special effects, and more! Along with an updated Luminosity, brand new shows like Snoopy Unleashed, Rockin’ Country, and Lusty Lil will keep you entertained this season. Some of your favorites like All Wheels Extreme and On Broadway will be back, also.

3. Redesigned Gemini Midway With New Rides

We here at CP Rundown are super excited for this. Two new family fun rides will grace us with their presence on the Gemini Midway. Pipe Scream is a half-pipe style family coaster that will offer excitement to all ages. It may look familiar; Kings Island has the same style ride! Lake Eerie Eagles will also be new. The Eagles’ ride type is a guest favorite at parks all across the U.S., and will put a smile on anyone’s face. A new restaurant and fun lighting will also add to the new atmosphere of the area.

2. Slingshot

The most thrilling addition for 2014, Slingshot, is, well, exactly what the name describes. Hop into a steel ball next to your best buddy and be prepared to launch straight up to a height of 300 feet. Yes, that is as tall as Millennium. Slingshot will be right beside Gemini and is a separate ticket attraction (you have to pay extra for it)

1. Winter Will Finally Be Over

Let’s face it, this winter was miserable. It’s about time for warm temperatures and Dragster’s launch.

Are you excited for this season for a reason not listed above? Hit us up in the comment section!
